Video Game Cheats and CodesAdvances in video game industry have made each video game a world of possibilities. No longer are they two dimensional; action can be crafted in full three dimensions by the gamers. Graphics have become increasingly more realistic. Although video games have evolved, each game has its cheats and codes. A cheat code can add ammunition to a weapon or life points to a character or powers/strengths to a player, all by a button combination or password. More often than not, video game developers and designers incorporate an Easter egg in a game, which is a hidden bonus or advantage to a player. Advantages can also be rendered by cheat devices, which are designed to assist players to activate cheat codes or bring about modifications of the content of a game. These devices can be either hardware or software. By and large, cheat codes are safe to the system and the video game being played, so it is not surprising that they are utilized by gamers across the world. While a game is being played, manual entry of cheat codes brings about a desired effect. Downloadable files of cheat codes, however, should be used with discretion unless a player knows what is in the file and how the cheat codes will be used. Any entry of cheat codes does have the possibility of making the game unstable. It is not surprising that cheat codes exist for almost every video game system, from PlayStation 2 to Xbox 360 to PC. There are as many websites on cheat codes for each game and system as there are sites about the games or systems themselves.
